Each fellow participates in a scholarly project with research training available in laboratory based, translational, clinical and epidemiologic arenas at both Ben Towne Center and Fred Hutch. Our fellows have publishednumerous articlesin highly competitive areas of biomedical research, and they continue to maintain a history of success in acquiringextramural funding support. I am a hematologist and medical oncologist who has been the institutional principal investigator on nearly 100 clinical trials involving breast cancer, myeloma, prostate cancer, lung cancer . Thefirst yearof the fellowship is focused on clinical training. Each fellow has a longitudinal ambulatory clinic, and short-term clinics working with the various faculty members. The first-year fellow is expected to complete 11 four-week clinical rotations, one four-week elective rotation, and one four-week vacation.
